This unit has exactly the same features and software as the portable version except one major difference, it has an extension antenna.
By having an external antenna it dramatically increases the range of the unit.
Many companies offer misleading information on the true range of a Bluetooth marketing device.

Range Explained

Let me explain to you about Bluetooth and its range, there are 2 classes of Bluetooth, class 1 and class 2.
Class 1 has a range of 100m and class 2 has a range of 10m.
A mobile phone is a class 2 and an Ad-pod is class 1.
So the phone has a short range but the pod a much larger range. Now even though the ad-pod can send a message 100m the phone cannot accept the message from that distance.

The only way of changing this is by having a very sensitive antenna on the Ad-pod.
The antenna enables the unit to pick up the very faint signal from the phone over a much greater distance.
Without the external antenna you are limited to a maximum of 30m with an Ad-pod inbuilt antenna.

This unit with its exterior antenna can dramatically increase the range to 50 - 60m depending on clear line of site and atmospheric conditions.
So in practical terms you could possibly cover 100m in the high street with your promotion (50m in either direction).

Your Decision

In assessing which pod suits your needs the best you have to decide how far you need your signal to broadcast, if you feel you require more than 20-30m then this is the perfect package for you.
